Now, as empty nesters, the couple cherishes their home as a repository of memories and a reflection of their journey. From raising their children to celebrating milestones, this house has been a backdrop to their evolving lives. With no plans to leave, they have made it clear that this is where they plan to stay for the long haul.
For Ripa and Consuelos to bring their vision to life, they collaborated with renowned interior designer William Sofield, whose expertise helped transform the five-story townhouse into a space that radiates sophistication.
Many of these items, like the cobalt blue Sèvres urns and reworked 18th-century Aubusson tapestries, now take pride of place in the home’s living spaces. The couple also prioritized practicality without sacrificing style.

Sofield designed twin Deco-style armoires for the foyer to store outdoor gear, a nod to the couple’s preference for an organized, shoe-free home. With these personal touches, they created a space that seamlessly blends Parisian elegance with the functionality of a family home.

Living Room: A Showcase of Elegance and History
The living room is a perfect blend of refinement and approachability. While it presents as a sophisticated space with hand-rubbed lacquered walls and a Louis XVI fireplace, the couple insists it’s not “too precious” for everyday use.

Ripa fondly recalled how Vanderbilt said the piece “looked like us.” Another standout feature is the pair of restored 18th-century Aubusson tapestries, which initially seemed too traditional for the couple but have since become a cherished part of the decor.

During the holidays, the room transforms entirely, with a Christmas tree placed in the center window, making it a festive hub for family celebrations. While the living room offers communal charm, the primary bedroom becomes a tranquil retreat designed for ultimate comfort.

Ripa and Consuelos’ primary bedroom was designed to evoke the ambiance of a luxurious European hotel suite. Bathed in silvery gray tones, the space features plush wall-to-wall carpeting, vintage sconces salvaged from an ocean liner, and a hand-gilded headboard that took countless painstaking hours to perfect.

“We kept thinking it was perfect with every layer,” Ripa joked, reflecting on the craftsmanship behind the silver leaf finish. The bedroom also holds sentimental value, showcasing treasures from the couple’s Paris flea market trips.

“I wore out the fabric of my desk chair in the shape of my rear end,” she quipped. Adding a modern twist, the couple cleverly incorporated a mirror that hides a television.

The Bathroom: A Glamorous Hollywood-Inspired Sanctuary
The couple’s bathroom is a perfect reflection of their penchant for combining drama and sophistication. At the heart of the space is a stunning chaise longue, inspired by an iconic scene from the classic film “Mommie Dearest.”
In the movie, Joan Crawford, played by Faye Dunaway, lounges on a white satin chaise while delicately applying lotion. Ripa, enchanted by the moment, turned to Sofield to bring her Hollywood fantasy to life.

While the original piece featured delicate hammered satin upholstery, its impracticality quickly became apparent. “I sat down on the chaise to apply some lotion, kind of as a joke,” Ripa explained, “but when I put my leg down, I basically destroyed the entire surface!”
The chaise was reupholstered in a more durable cotton silk, preserving its vintage charm while ensuring it could withstand daily use. Despite the hiccup, the chaise remains a centerpiece of the bathroom.

Media Room: A Bold and Playful Escape
While much of the townhouse adheres to a sophisticated Art Deco aesthetic, the top-floor media room offers a bold departure. Nicknamed “Bar 5” and affectionately referred to as Consuelos’ cigar room, the space channels a hedonistic 1970s vibe.

One of the room’s standout features is a backlit bar nook, draped in midnight-blue velvet curtains and featuring a whimsical painted cigarette motif on the ceiling. Despite its name, the cigar lounge has a strict no-smoking policy.

“Mark doesn’t allow cigarette smoking,” Ripa clarified, adding that the room is equipped with a state-of-the-art ventilation system that removes any trace of cigar smoke. “You’d never know anyone ever smoked in here,” she assured.

Consuelos’ love for Formula One racing is evident in the photography and decor, while Ripa admits she’s drawn to the room’s bold style. “I don’t come up here often, but every time I do, I think, ‘I should spend more time here—it’s so pretty,'” she shared.
Though the cigar lounge showcases the couple’s playful side, their unwavering connection to the townhouse as their “forever home” speaks to its deeper significance.

After over a decade of memories, Ripa and Consuelos have no plans to leave their beloved Upper East Side townhouse. Now in their empty-nester phase, the couple has embraced their home as a permanent haven.
Even though their children no longer live there full-time, their rooms remain preserved to encourage visits. “When we leave our bedroom, it feels like they’re still with us,” Ripa noted while referencing artwork in the hallway that features painted representations of her children’s eyes.
“I don’t want to sound morbid,” Ripa said, “but they’ll have to carry me out of here feet first because I have gotten good and comfortable in this house.” The home is not only a repository of treasured memories but also a space where they envision their future—together, forever.
