Expert reveals five signs that could mean your relationship ‘is over’

Cheers to the happy couples

Like it or not, we probably all judge other people’s relationships against our own just a little bit, and have our own beliefs about how couples should act with each other.

Some of you might love physical touch and spending time with your partner, while others prefer a less intimate approach, and both are absolutely fine (although if you ask me, your partner should be your best friend and you should love being around them).

But obviously, if it gets to the point where you’re no longer speaking regularly with your other half, then something might be wrong.

Well, one expert has shared five scenarios that could mean it’s ‘over’ and is time to start putting your own happiness first again.

Relationship expert and life coach Ojie Okosun took to TikTok to reveal to his 200k followers the signs that a relationship or marriage is in troubled waters.

You live together but feel like strangers

Now, if you come home from work and do find a genuine stranger in your house, it’s probably worth calling the police.

But for those of you that live with your other half and it gets to the point where you no longer recognise them because of a change in character, then it might be time for a change of your own, according to Ojie.

You feel irritable in their presence or when they speak

Again, not the best sign.

You’ve got to put yourself first and if your partner is making your mental health worse and not better, then maybe you should find someone new. If it’s just a case of disliking your partner’s accent, then maybe you can forgive them and move on.

You’re only there ‘because of the children’

Of course, it goes without saying that children tend to be happier when their parents stay together, but they’re also not going to be happy if they grow up with mummy and daddy shouting at each other all the time.

Children will benefit more from a healthy relationship between parents who are no longer together, rather than those who choose to stay together and remain unhappy.

Intimacy and sex is no longer a thing

Unless you’re in an asexual relationship where sex has never been on the table (both figuratively and literally), then it’s important you still show your partner that you are attracted to them through intimate acts.

Everyone in your life is tired of the continual fights and arguments

It’s always good to have an outside opinion and often, your friends and family know best. But if they’re sick of your fighting with your other half, then it’s clearly happening far too often.

Now, we wouldn’t recommend just abandoning a relationship if it is showing any of these symptoms as at the end of the day, most relationships go through rough patches. But if you’re suffering from all five consistently, then it’s probably time to pack the bags.
