New wildfires break out in San Diego prompting officials to issue urgent evacuation orders

The largest of the fires, the Lilac Fire, has affected 85 acres, forcing evacuations in Bonsall, a town located approximately 45 minutes from San Diego. As of now, 86 residents have been evacuated, and two buildings have been affected. Firefighters have made significant progress, managing to contain 50% of the fire. Local authorities have reassured the public that fire activity has decreased substantially.

Other fires include the Riverview Fire, which burned one acre of land and was contained quickly by firefighters, and the Pala Fire, which began just an hour after the Lilac Fire. The Pala Fire burned 17 acres before being controlled.

San Diego County District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond has emphasized the importance of following evacuation orders, particularly with the added danger posed by the Santa Ana winds. These winds are exacerbating the fire conditions, making it critical for residents to evacuate without delay if they are in the affected zones.

To support those affected, emergency shelters have been set up for both people and animals. The San Diego Humane Society has dispatched a rescue team to save six horses, while the Red Cross is providing assistance at a temporary evacuation center in Escondido.

This ongoing situation highlights the urgent need for vigilance, with officials continuing to monitor the fires closely and urge residents to cooperate with evacuation efforts for their safety.
