Compounding the tragedy, California has faced extreme weather conditions, including prolonged drought, dry vegetation, and fierce Santa Ana winds.

These factors created an ideal environment for the fires to spread rapidly. Local authorities have warned of continued risks, with powerful winds and dangerously low humidity expected to worsen the situation in the coming days.

Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of arson related to the fires. Despite efforts to contain the blazes, the situation remains dire, leaving communities to grapple with the devastating losses and uncertainties ahead.

And now, a family member has confirmed that a Hollywood actress had died in the fires.

Dalyce Curry, aged 95, was found dead after the Eaton Fire swept through her property in Altadena, just north of Los Angeles.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her family through social media posts.

Curry, affectionately known as ‘Momma D’ by her family, had a notable history in Hollywood.

She appeared as an extra in iconic films such as The Ten CommandmentsThe Blues Brothers, and Lady Sings the Blues.

Her death adds to the mounting devastation caused by the wildfires, which have already claimed multiple lives and left a trail of destruction in Southern California.

California first responders discovered her remains on Sunday evening, a finding later confirmed by her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, via a social media update.

Kelley, who served as her great-grandmother’s caregiver, had last seen Curry when she brought her home from the hospital days earlier.

Kelley described the scene as apocalyptic, with the fire reducing the property to ashes and leaving behind only remnants of Curry’s belongings, including a damaged Cadillac.

“It was total devastation,” Kelley told ABC7. “Everything was gone except her blue Cadillac.”

Shocking videos shared by Kelley captured the aftermath of the fire, showcasing the charred remains of Curry’s home and possessions.

The family endured an agonizing wait for days, combing through the wreckage and holding out hope for news of their loved one.

Kelley described the devastation as ‘total,’ with everything destroyed except for Curry’s blue Cadillac.

Curry’s passing serves as a somber reminder of the human toll of natural disasters.

Her family, friends, and admirers mourn the loss of a woman whose life was steeped in Hollywood history and familial love.
