Fool Me Once was a massive hit for Netflix, becoming the eighth most-viewed English-speaking show of all time, and it seems like Missing You is on track to have the same popularity.
It’s no surprise that Coben’s adaptations have been so successful with viewers and there is everything you could ever want.
There’s mystery, suspense, betrayal, love, loss, and revenge.
While viewers were sitting back watching the show, which dropped on New Year’s Day, they were quick to point out seeing GK Barry (Grace), the popular podcaster, YouTuber and TikToker who recently came out of the jungle.
One person wrote: “either i’m going mad or gk barry is in the flashback scenes in missing you on netflix???”
A second said: “Just started the missing you show everyone’s going on about and gk barry’s the first person i see?”
Another commented: “What the hell is GK Barry doing in Missing You.”
A fourth said: “GK Barry girl, what are you doing here?”
But why was she in the show?
The series focuses on a detective whose fiancé disappeared off the face of the Earth, before she accidentally finds him on a dating app, which kick-starts a whole host of insane situations as she’s pulled into the mysterious death of her father.
However, we soon find out that a missing man- Rishi Magari- is connected to a woman named Vanessa (Barry), which is when she appears on the screen.
According to her, she was asked to be part of the show.
GK Barry dished out the reason for her cameo (Netflix)
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she revealed that the production team reached out to her manager to set the whole thing up.
She said: “They approached my manager and said, ‘We’re doing this new Netflix show, and we’d love Grace to be a little part in it.’ And I thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to say no’.
“So, we got on a call, and they were explaining who my character was, and it made me laugh so much because it’s very on brand.”
Spoiler Alert:
Barry’s character plays a ‘foot cam girl’, so you can see why she’d agree to take up the role.
Once she agreed, she said: “They gave me a brief outline of what it was about and read me the lineup of people [involved] and I thought, ‘I absolutely will do that.’ I just wanted to do it because I thought it was kind of iconic. I want to build the CV up so my parents cannot moan about anything!”
While it was a fleeting cameo, we very well might see her in more TV as she said she’d love to ‘do [more acting], like The Office vibes, or something that doesn’t involve tense acting’.
