One fan writes: “It’s an excellent series for people who want to watch something similar to Squid Game.”

Another adds: “This show is better in my opinion than Squid Game.”

“For me, this show remains superior when it comes to the games, characters, plot, and overall thrills,” a third person declares. “The plot twist was excellent, and the acting, the character dynamics, the games, and the ending were 10/10. I need this show to go Squid Game level famous.”

The Japanese sci-fi thriller series has also received rave reviews from critics.

Steve Greene for IndieWire shared: “Like a dream you try to remember the next morning, it doesn’t always make sense. When you’re deep in it, though, there’s nothing else that’s quite like it.”

Andrew Heskins wrote on EasternKicks: “Players in a deadly game for their lives, the Netflix series before Squid Game that deserved the accolades more.”

“Watching under-resourced and outgunned heroes overcome the odds is eternally satisfying,” Melanie McFarland of Salon said.

The series has also earned an impressive 90% Rotten Tomatoes score and 7.7/10 on IMDb.

The Japanese series being labeled ‘better than Squid Game‘ is an adaption of a manga series by Haro Aso of the same name.

Shinsuke Sato, also known for the hit action film series Kingdom, is the director behind it.

In an interview discussing the making of the TV show, the director said: “Netflix was looking for something that would, of course, work for Japanese viewers.

“Although at the time, they had just started their services in Japan, so the subscriber numbers were still not that huge, but they were also looking for something that would work internationally.”

The show follows an avid gamer called Ryōhei Arisu who must participate in life-or-death games to survive.
