Officials have allegedly charged five people in connection with Liam Payne’s death, including hotel staff and one of his friends.

In October, it was reported that the former One Direction singer had died while staying at the CasaSur Palemero hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It’s understood the 31-year-old and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, 25, had originally been in the country to support and visit his ex-bandmate Niall Horan, 31, who was on tour at the time.

Payne, who was staying on the third floor of the up-market establishment, is thought to have fallen from his balcony – which looked into the hotel’s interior courtyard – at around 17:07 local time (21:07 BST).

A post-mortem examination later reported he died of ‘multiple traumas’ and ‘internal and external haemorrhage’.

On Sunday (December 29), local outlet Infobae alleged that officers investigating the incident had charged five people, one of whom is Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, an alleged friend of Payne.

News.com.au reports that Nores left the singer at the hotel around an hour before he fell to his death on October 16.

It’s unknown whether Nores has been taken into custody by police, but it is reported that he has been charged with negligent homicide and is prohibited from leaving the country, as per Metro.

Gilda Martin and Esteban Grassi, two hotel managers, have reportedly been charged with manslaughter.

Waiter Braian Paiz and hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra have both been accused of supplying Payne drugs, the publication also claims.

UNILAD has contacted International Criminal Police Organization and Argentina IPA for comment.

Nores has previously denied claims that he was involved in the former X Factor star’s death.

Speaking to TMZ’s documentary, TMZ Presents: Liam Payne: Who’s to Blame, Nores claimed that Payne had been ‘in good spirits and perfectly balanced’ before his death.

In a statement, he said (via E! News): “I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened. I could have never imagined something like this would happen.”

“I haven’t spoken to any police officer or prosecutor ever since,” he continued, adding that he was ‘heartbroken with this tragedy’ before saying he was ‘missing’ his friend ‘every day’.

In November, it was reported that three people had been detained and one person’s home had been raided by police in connection with Payne’s death, with the public prosecutors office stating that one of the suspects was ‘the person who accompanied the artist on a daily basis during his stay in the city of Buenos Aires’, while the other two were a hotel employee and an alleged ‘drug supplier’.

In November, Payne’s remains were flown back to the UK, with a private funeral taking place at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England, northwest of London.

Argentinian police have detained three people of interest and raided the home of one in connection to former One Direction member Liam Payne’s death.

Payne, 31, passed away on October 16 after falling off the third floor of hotel CasaSur Palermo in Buenos Aires.

According to PA, the public prosecutor’s office in Argentina has shared that one person has been charged with abandonment of a person followed by death and the supply and facilitation of drugs. Meanwhile, a hotel employee and a third person have also been charged with supplying narcotics.

None of the suspects have been named.

Prosecutors said one of the suspects is ‘the person who accompanied the artist on a daily basis during his stay in the city of Buenos Aires’. The second suspect is a hotel employee accused of supplying Payne with drugs, and a third is an alleged ‘drug supplier’.

While Payne’s autopsy report revealed that he died from a number of injuries, including ‘internal and external haemorrhage’ caused by the fall, a toxicology report found that he had ‘traces of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant’ in his body at the time of his death.

A statement released by prosecutors said ‘exhaustive and meticulous measures were taken to clarify the circumstances’ around Payne’s death.

It also read: “Based on the evidence gathered and after analyzing the various bodies of proceedings and numerous documentary annexes and the background of the case, prosecutor Andres Esteban Madrea formally charged three people, requesting their questioning and arrest in a 180-page ruling presented last Friday to Judge Bruniard.”

The statement also says that Argentinian officials have carried out a forensic analysis of Payne’s phone. They also have reviewed 800 hours of video footage from the hotel’s security cameras and nearby areas.

Nine raids have been ordered on properties in Buenos Aires linked to Payne’s death and some of his devices are still being analyzed.

Meanwhile, public prosecutor Andrés Madrea recently confirmed to the BBC that Payne’s body was returned to his family on November 6 after being held in Argentina while local authorities completed further toxicology and lab tests.

At the time of Payne’s death, his former bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik released a joint statement on social media.

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” the four members wrote in a statement posted to One Direction’s Instagram page. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.

“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”

Kate Cassidy had been with Liam Payne in Argentina just days before his death

Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has issued her first statement following the news of the former One Direction star’s death.

Payne and Cassidy had been visiting Argentina together before Payne, 31, was confirmed to have died after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires.

Police were called to the hotel on Wednesday (October 16) over reports of a ‘guest drunk with drugs and alcohol’, according to a transcript of the 911 call.

When authorities arrived, Payne was confirmed to have fallen from his balcony and suffered ‘injuries that were incompatible with life’, Alberto Crescenti, the head of the state emergency medical system, said.

Cassidy left Payne in Argentina just two days prior to his death, explaining in a TikTok video at the time that she was ‘so ready to leave’ the country.

She added: “Honestly, I love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for like five days and it turned into two weeks and I was just like I need to go home.

Cassidy has now issued a statement in the wake of Payne’s death.

“Thank you for all the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss,” she wrote.

“Nothing about the past few days have felt real.

“I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.

“Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely.

“I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”

In the video, Cassidy said: “And somehow 10 years later…” then opened the door to her childhood bedroom to reveal the real-life Payne on her bed.

She captioned the post: “The power of manifesting, I guess.”

The couple made red carpet appearances together and documented their travels across the globe, enjoying trips to the likes of New York, Spain and Italy.

Fans of the couple have been sharing their condolences to Cassidy in the wake of Payne’s death, with one writing: “Thanks for making Liam happy, so sorry for your loss.

The former One Direction member died on 16 October at the age of 31 after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He was visiting the South American country with his girlfriend, American influencer Kate Cassidy, with the pair attending former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert in the weeks before his death.

She wrote: “I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words.

“I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.

“You are – because I can’t say were – my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into.

“None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side.”

The statement continued: “Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things.

“Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like l’ve lost the best part of myself. I can’t imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life.

“A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.’ Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel.

“I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”

Cassidy concluded the heartbreaking statement with 444; a series of numbers explained in another image in the carousel.
