Gavin and Stacey viewers were quick to spot the hilarious error

After a 17-year wait, Gavin and Stacey fans finally got some closure when the finale brought an end to the storyline.

James Corden, otherwise known as Smithy, took to social media to thank viewers after it secured the highest Christmas Day ratings since 2008, drawing in an average audience of 12.3 million.

“Here’s some behind the scenes photos from the special. Thank you so much to everyone who watched last night,” the Gavin and Stacey co-creator said on Instagram. “It means more than you’ll know. All my love, James xx.”

Although the final episode went down a storm, fans were left in stitches after spotting a continuity error.

Let’s see if you can spot it:

In the emotional scene, Mick Shipman issues a touching speech to Smith during his stag night, calling him a second son after he and his wife Pam struggled to have another child.

Over on TikTok, however, one eagle-eyed fan pointed out the state of Mick’s pint glass throughout the scene.

It went from full, to half full, all the way back to full during his speech.

“I love a good continuity error; Mick showing he can still drink the younger blokes under the table,” the fan penned (via The Daily Mail).

“I noticed this on the night! Hahaha,” another penned.

While someone else said: “Continuity errors are so irritating because you can’t unsee them.”

This comes after Gavin and Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones said she noticed an error in the 2019 Christmas episode.

“I watched the 2019 Christmas special the other night and I noticed a glaring continuity error,” she told Magic Radio.

“You know Pam leaves the Christmas puddings behind and forgets to take them because they have been otherwise occupied and they are mortified?

“Then Jason arrives, and he’s stopped at the shop, and he’s picked up Christmas puddings as well.

“So, the next morning, when they haven’t got the Christmas puddings, one of them, and I can’t remember who it is, says ‘have we left nine Christmas puddings in the pub?’

“There’s 18, there’s double.”

The conclusion to the series, which originally aired between 2007 and 2010, saw Smithy and Nessa finally get married in-front of their family friends before taking a group photo together.

Though viewers were left a little confused after Neil the baby, played by Oscar Hartland, was missing in the finale scene.

“Why was Neil ‘the baby’ left at his dad’s failed wedding with nobody he knows whilst all the others went to off to Southampton,” one user commented.

“Really feel for Neil the Baby. Smashes his ‘Blackbird’ performance but isn’t invited on the bus to see his mum and dad finally get together, a second person penned.
