Billy Bob Thornton has explained why Angelina Jolie wore a vial of his blood when they were married.
The pair tied the knot in 2000 before divorcing three years later.
It’s believed the couple split pretty amicably, with Jolie explaining in 2008 that she still ‘loved him dearly’ and was ‘proud’ to have been married to the actor.
While together, the pair were sometimes apart while working on their individual projects, but they had a rather unusual way of staying connected.
As a romantic gesture, Jolie wore a ‘vial’ of Thornton’s blood around her neck and the filmmaker has since explained why.
Speaking to students at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film & Television in 2014, Thornton said: “[A] vial of blood is very simple. Angie came home one day with a kit she bought.
“You know those lockets you buy that are clear and you put a picture of your grannie in it or something like that and wear it around your neck? That’s what it was. She bought two of those.
“We were apart a lot because she’s off making Tomb Raider and I’m making Monster’s Ball. We were on opposite ends—we see each other for two weeks and whatever.
“She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razor blade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one. Same thing.
“From that we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks.”

Jolie has since shared her side of the story, explaining that it was more a ‘flower press’ than a vial.
In 2008, she told Entertainment Weekly: “It was never a vial… It was like a flower press.
“It was like from a slight cut on your finger and you press your fingerprint in. It was kind of a sweet gesture. I thought it was kind of romantic!”
She added: “I still love him dearly and think the world of him and I’m proud to have been his wife for a time. I don’t believe in regrets. It’s a dangerous habit to get into—it makes you pause in your life if you start thinking back and questioning yourself.”

Jolie went on to meet Brad Pitt in 2004, when they were shooting the movie Mr and Mrs Smith.
Here is the confession which Brad Pitt reportedly made to his then-wife Jennifer Aniston shortly before the couple’s infamous divorce.
Once upon a time in the mythical world we all know as Hollywood, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were the it couple.
With looks, money, and glittering acting careers, it seemed the pair had it all after they tied the knot in 2000. Pitt even made a cameo appearance alongside Aniston in Friends in the Thanksgiving episode ‘The One with the Rumour’.
Yep, it seemed like Pitt and Aniston had everything they could ever want… until they didn’t.
In January 2005, the A-list power couple came to a swift end when the actors announced they were separating via a joint statement.
“We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate,” the statement read.
“For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media.
“This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another.”
For a while thing,s seemed pretty amicable between the two, until a bombshell revelation would lead to a fierce divide among celebrity fans.
We are, of course, talking about the Angelina Jolie in the room.
Pitt and Jolie starred opposite each other in action-comedy Mr & Mrs Smith, which they filmed in 2003. The film came out the summer after his divorce from Aniston, and it seemed like the pair hit it off on set.

Pitt and Jolie would go on to publicly confirm their relationship, having six kids together before eventually getting married in 2014, and divorcing just two years later.
While there is no proof Pitt actually cheated on Aniston with Jolie, the quick turnaround between their relationships led many to believe so, leading to the infamous ‘Team Jen vs Team Jolie’ feud.
When these stories came up, Aniston avoided speaking about it, but it was later revealed by her Friends co-star, Courteney Cox, that she was aware of what was happening between her then-husband and Jolie.
Cox explained in an interview with Vanity Fair: “I don’t think he started an affair physically, but I think he was attracted to her.

“There was a connection, and he was honest about that with Jen. Most of the time, when people are attracted to other people, they don’t tell.
“At least he was honest about it. It was an attraction that he fought for a period of time,” she revealed.
Aniston would later address the fan created rivalry in 2015, telling Entertainment Tonight: “I think it’s time people stop with that petty B.S. and just start celebrating great work and stop with the petty kind of silliness.
“I think that’s slowly coming to an end. I really do. It’s just tiresome and old. It’s like an old leather shoe. Let’s buy a new pair of shiny shoes.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son has made his first red carpet appearance in over three years.
The celebrity couple, who share six children together, got married in 2014 after years of dating.
Following their separation in 2016, the pair remain co-parents to Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, both 16.
Jolie, 49, took to the red carpet at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (17 November) night.
Some of the film industry’s biggest names were in attendance to honour the late Quincy Jones, such as James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, filmmaker Richard Curtis, and casting director Juliet Taylor.
Jones, who produced three Michael Jackson albums, passed away on 3 November at the age of 91.
On the red carpet, Jolie’s was joined by her son Knox Jolie-Pitt, 16, who wore a black and white suit with a black bowtie.

Meanwhile, his mum donned a gold and silver sleeveless dress, with a diamond necklace and matching earrings.
The last time Knox appeared on a Hollywood carpet was in October 2021 at the UK premiere of Jolie’s Eternals.
This comes after the Brad Pitt reportedly secured a recent win in his ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife.
Pitt, 60, has accused Jolie of violating an agreement to not sell their stakes in a company without both of their permission, reports People.
The Fight Club actor sued Jolie for selling her stake in winery Château Miraval to a third party in 2022, all while overlapping with a separate legal case in relation to the custody of the children.
And earlier this month, judge Lia Martin dismissed three demurrers that had been filed by Jolie’s legal team.
“This is a clear victory for Brad which demonstrates the legitimacy of his claims and demonstrates yet again the other side’s talk is not backed up with substance,” a source told the outlet.

“In the past few years, she’s been able to create a life for herself and the kids that make them all happy,” another source told the publication.
“It was a struggle for a while, but Angie is proud about how resilient and strong the kids are.
“They are her biggest supporters too. The kids are all amazing.
“Being stuck in the past is not anything that Angie wants.
“She’s actively moving beyond the past. She wants to focus on her family, work and the future.
“These are all things that make her happy.”

Angelina Jolie’s exes must have felt pretty deflated when she revealed the ‘best sex’ she has ever had was with Denzel Washington in a film.
The actress, 48, has had plenty of handsome co-stars over the years, but she particularly enjoyed ‘seducing’ the Training Day star when they worked together back in 1999.
The pair joined forces 25-years ago to work on Phillip Noyce’s chilling crime thriller, The Bone Collector, and Jolie revealed that Washington managed to charm her socks off on set. Take a look at the trailer for the flick here
Based on Jeffery Deaver’s 1997 novel of the same name, The Bone Collector is quite a whirlwind to say the least.
Jolie stars as police officer, Amelia Donaghy, who is desperately trying to track down a serial killer who leaves a disturbing calling card at each crime scene – a bone which has been extracted from each victim.
As she struggles to decipher the clues which the murderer leaves behind, she ends up calling on the talents of a quadriplegic forensics expert Lincoln Rhyme, who is played by Washington.
He was left paralysed from the neck down following a horror accident, but his mind is still working perfectly and his guidance ends up being key to Donaghy cracking the case.
After spending quite a lot of time together while sifting through evidence and sharing theories, sparks begin to fly and the pair end up getting it on – but not in the way you may initially think.

Discussing the intricacies of the role, Jolie explained that the ‘romance’ element between her and Washington’s characters was based more on intimacy than physicality.
But she still reckons it’s the best she’s ever had.
During an interview with Dark Horizons shortly after The Bone Collector was first released, the Tomb Raider star opened up about her on-screen chemistry with Washington.
She said: “What’s fascinating are the journeys these two characters undertake, and the deep relationship that evolves between them.”
Jolie said the scene where she uses both smell and intellect to seduce the forensics expert was the ‘best sex I ever had’.
The A-lister added: “It was great seducing someone with your mind, a huge turn-on.”

Although she had fun with her hunky co-star, Jolie confessed that shooting the film was a ‘really lonely’ experience which left her questioning her abilities.
The mum-of-six explained: “I went a bit nuts. From the beginning, I felt as if I was not capable of doing this, of leading a film and being responsible for this, of physically handling this, of saving a life and going in there and being a cop.”
I mean, considering the plot, it’s not exactly surprising that her psyche was a bit out of kilter.
Jolie joked that starring in The Bone Collector ‘nearly drove her insane’ because her character ‘was so insane inside’ – but I bet one look at Washington helped her calm down a treat.
Machine Gun Kelly previously revealed why he designed Megan Fox’s engagement ring to be physically painful if she ever wanted to take it off.
First linked to each other back in 2020, the couples’ relationship has since made headlines for all the weird reasons – including sharing drops of each other’s blood, pretty extreme PDA at every possible public moment and NSFW revelations about their sex life.
Two years later Fox, 38, and Kelly, 34, would seemingly seal the deal with an extravagant engagement, complete with a ring designed to cause physical pain should the Jennifer’s Body actress which to take it off
Which was, of course, in keeping with the entire nature of their relationship.
Explaining how the ring, which features the pair’s birthstones, was designed, MGK told Vogue: “The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings.
“When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns.
“So, if she tries to take it off, it hurts.”
MGK designed it that way with Stephen Webster because he believes ‘love is pain’, even though if she decided she no longer loved him and took off the ring then she would be in more physical pain. But you know, each to their own.
Elaborating on the design of the ring via a post on Instagram, he added: “I know tradition is one ring, but i designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”
In her announcement post, Fox kept things similarly weird, writing: “And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes…and then we drank each other’s blood.”
Clearly the pain inducing ring didn’t deter Fox from taking it off, as the couple would call off their engagement during an appearance on Call Me Daddy podcast last year.
However, a cancelled engagement didn’t mean the end of Fox’s relationship with MGK, as the couple have recently announced they’re expecting a child together via social media.

“Nothing is ever really lost. welcome back,” the caption read, followed by an angel baby and love-heart emojis. The happy announcement follows Fox’s heartbreaking revelation that she and the rapper previously
