Anyone who’s been following I’m A Celeb for years will know all about the rice and beans meal that most campmates are forced to eat during their time in the jungle.
But Ant and Dec confirmed just how little food each person gets every day while on I’m A Celebrity and it’s sad to look at.
However, it’s not exactly shocking that they’re facing very little sustenance whilst in the Aussie location.
Looking back at all of the celebrities who have been and gone, there’s clear signs that the beans and rice diet can utterly transform someone’s body.
Fred Sirieix
52-year-old First Dates host, Fred Sirieix, appeared on the ITV show in 2023 and shared that he left the camp extremely ‘fit’, explaining: “I was 76.6 kilos when I went in, I was the fittest I have ever been, physically and psychologically – I have trained and prepared for this. The focus has balanced me out in a way I have never been before in my life.
“In the jungle, because you are on rice and beans, first I lost a lot of fat but I lost a bit of muscle as well. But the muscle quality has gone up because I was very physically active. I lost 5 kilos (11lbs) I am so fit.”
(ITV)
Georgia Toffolo
Toffolo, aka, Toff is a Made in Chelsea star, who noticed something almost disappeared off her figure after a stint in the jungle back in 2017.
She reportedly lost lost 9 lbs and said at the time: “I feel really skinny. I had small boobies anyway and [now] I [look] down and I [am] completely flat!”
Emily Atack
The 33-year-old Inbetweeners actress was reported to have lost nearly a stone in 2018 during her time on the show.
But the comments she received afterwards were not kind.
Atack opened up: “Some bloke just said to me in a restaurant whilst I was eating my dinner, ‘No, stop. Starvation suits you.’
“What in the…!? I would throw my burg[er] at you but that would be a massive waste love.”
Chris Moyles
Chris Moyles admitted that he lost a stone and half on the show and explained what happened on IAC in 2022: “I got weighed right at the beginning of isolation and they weigh you literally the first thing you do when you come out, you go see the medical officer and they weigh you and check that you’re alright and not lost the plot and what not. So yeah, I lost weight.”
Scarlett Moffatt
The ex-Gogglebox funny woman was the ‘Queen of the Jungle’ in 2016 and ended up losing more than three stone from exercising for hours every day and eating only 700 calories after the jungle, explaining: “I feel like I’m finally in a place where I’m very chill, everything has clicked together.
“I’ve learned to be kinder to myself and I think it’s the first time I can genuinely say I feel really confident.”
Michael Buerk
Michael Buerk was in the series in 2014.
His wife, Christine, was worried that he had lost 17 lbs during his stint on the show and said at the time: “I was quite horrified to realise that they only get 500 calories a day in the jungle. It’s not that he dislikes rice and beans, but the rations are quite low.”
Stanley Johnson
The former MP Boris Johnson’s dad, Stanley, appeared on the show in 2017 and lost a stone-and-a-half thanks to the rice and beans diet.
“I haven’t been that weight since 1954 and I want to keep it that way. Mind you, it’s a complicated way of losing weight,” the 84-year-old confessed.
Nick Knowles
Nick Knowles lost 14 kilos on I’m A Celeb in 2018.
The 62-year-old TV presenter said at the time: “You have to go all the way down to the bottom of a very steep hill to get wood for the fire, which you have to do about ten times a day. You also have to bring the water up the hill, 30 kilos worth when it’s full, then you’re going off doing trials with such little food.
“To give you an idea, I was in there something like 19 days. And I’ve lost 14 kilos.”

Ant and Dec have once again found themselves the focus of I’m A Celeb drama, as the pair continue to make headlines almost as much as the actual contestants of the show.
The presenting duo were hit with a number of Ofcom complaints over jokes they made aimed at I’m A Celeb campmate Reverend Richard Coles.
Coles is a latecomer to the camp along with Maura Higgins, but has quickly become well liked due to his affable nature.
Many gained even more respect for Coles last night, as he emotionally discussed with Strictly star Oti Mabuse her experience of birthing a premature child.
He then went on to discuss the death of his late husband, David Oldham, who died in 2019 of alcoholic liver disease.
Coles heartbreakingly told Oti ‘I miss him’, as he discussed dreams he had of his deceased partner.
This was not what led to Ant and Dec’s complaints, however, with the pair facing heat over what some would consider some fairly straightforward jokes.
During an eating trial alongside Maura Higgins soon after they entered the jungle, Ant McPartlin joked ‘more tea Vicar?’.

Back in the studio, Dec described the trial as unholy, with Ant adding the comment that it was ‘bum-holey’.
Before you ask, no, the complaints were not referring to the duo having sh*t patter.
The reverend has been well liked so far (ITV)
The pair, during last night’s episode, opened with a mock sermon, with Dec starting by saying: “It’s the start of a new day now and the first to wake up was Reverend Richard…”
Dec then interrupted, with music playing, as he said in a mocking voice: “And though the night before there had been darkness and a plague of insects had been visited upon him. But he had receiveth a small bounty that did taste of cheese. And now, praise be, he did rise again.”
He went on to joke: “So basically you are saying Richard had a fright, got some crisps, then had a sleep and got out of bed”.
Ant finished off the, again, rather sh*t joke, by saying: “Yes my child”, in a priest-like voice.
The pair appeared to be mocking Christianity (ITV)
The pair managed to p*ss off one group in particular – Christians.
Many felt the jokes were poking fun at Richard’s profession as a Vicar, with over 70 Ofcom complaints about their mocking of the Bible and his faith.
Currently, it remains unclear whether ITV will take any action as a result of this.
I’m A Celeb is considered to be one of the UK’s toughest reality shows as celebrities go from luxury-living and central heating to caveman fires and showering with cold water.
Add in some creepy crawlies from the Bushtucker Trials and you’ve got ITV’s most popular show.
Back in the day though, the creepiest thing on I’m A Celeb were the shower scenes, first made famous by Myleene Klass in her white bikini in 2006.
Although she was wearing a swimming costume, some rather thirsty sections of the nation were keen to watch.
For this year’s competition, various celebs have shared their thoughts on the show’s ‘cringe’ shower scenes, and producer Olly Nash has acknowledged that I’m A Celeb is a different programme to what it used to be.
He said: “It’s funny, they have all asked about that this year, but most people just cover themselves up. And it’s absolutely changed.
“I think the whole world has changed, hasn’t it A lot over the years, and people are less likely to get in there and want to flaunt themselves.”

That being said, it turns out that the waterfall shower isn’t as ‘authentic’ as you thought.
In 2006, former contestant Lauren Booth told the Daily Mail: “The waterfall, like the pool beneath it, was not part of the jungle at all, but a man-made creation.
“Unless, of course, ‘real’ rainforest waterfalls get turned off between three and six every afternoon.”
Hosts Ant and Dec also made a confession about the jungle, as Ant said in a TikTok video: “They don’t cover the camp.”
Dec added: “There’s like a canopy.”
“There’s a canopy in the middle so all the beds are here,” Ant continued, before using Dec’s breakfast beans to demonstrate viewers at home.

While the canopy might cover the beds, it won’t be much use if the rain is coming sideways, Ant said.
To protect celebs from the weather, Nash added to The Mirror in 2016: “Quite obviously this is the shower. Next door is a secret cave which will be hidden behind a locked door.”
“It will be used a number of times through out the series for our celebrities.
“Inside it is just a plain cave with a bench but we will be using it through out the series for various events.
“The floors a bit hard – but it can be used for romance.”

Several stars from the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here 2024 line-up have shared their thoughts on the show’s infamous shower scenes.
For those unaware with this particular piece of jungle history, the I’m a Celebrity... jungle shower became notorious back in 2006 when singer and TV show host Myleene Klass stepped under the cold water in a white bikini and left thirsty viewers up and down the nation gobsmacked by the sight.
The infamous Myleene Klass bikini moment (ITV)
Despite the fact that Klass was just a woman in a swimming costume taking a shower, the moment has remained a key moment in I’m a Celebrity... lore, with ‘bikini’ coming up as one of the suggestions when you type the now 46-year-old’s name into Google.
Plenty of other celebrities have since attempted to cash in on the moment over the following years, with the likes of Katie Price and even Nigel Farage stripping off for the shower.
However, the world has since moved on and several of the I’m a Celebrity… 2024 stars have now shared their thoughts on the situation – with one even branding the idea ‘cringy’.
Speaking about their shower plans in an interview with The Mirror ahead of her jungle stint, N-Dubz singer and former X-Factor judge Tulisa revealed she thought that playing up to the cameras while in the shower was ‘mad cringy’.
“If you overdo it, it just feels mad cringy to me. I don’t feel like Myleene, years ago, had that in mind,” the 36-year-old explained, adding that she would only be taking black bikinis into the jungle.

Ex-Strictly Come Dancing professional Mabuse was in agreement when it came to the shower situation, adding: “I don’t intend on being that gal in the papers. That’s not me. I’m probably going to wear a full blown out costume with some trousers.”
Meanwhile, GK Barry appears to be taking a more relaxed approach to the shower situation despite speaking to ITV bosses about the particular moment. “They said to me that they don’t really do that anymore,” the podcaster, whose real name is Grace, revealed.
However, the 25-year-old did add that she had packed a handful of bikinis for the shower, just in case.
The three women’s sentiments were echoed by I’m a Celebrity… producer Olly Nash, who added: “It’s funny, they have all asked about that this year, but most people just cover themselves up. And it’s absolutely changed.
“I think the whole world has changed, hasn’t it A lot over the years, and people are less likely to get in there and want to flaunt themselves.”
I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! starts on Sunday September 17 at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
