But there are some that still like to do it each year and have a personalized front cover with the whole family on it.
Well, some families like to take things to another level.
Amanda Cooper’s mother, Melynda King, is a huge advocate for the annual Christmas card.
King’s meticulous attention to detail has made their annual holiday card a family tradition. But this year, Cooper decided to inject some humor into the process.
Before a recent family photo shoot, Cooper texted her siblings with a mischievous idea…
What if they discreetly flipped off the camera? Her brother-in-law suggested using a code word to pull off the prank.
The prank unfolded as planned, and before posting the results on Instagram, Cooper gave her mother a heads-up.
“I get this text from Amanda, and it just said, ‘I’m going to apologize in advance for the reel I just posted,’” King, 55, recalled.
“Then I look at the video, and I burst out laughing,” King said. “I thought it was absolutely hilarious.”
While King found the prank amusing, the internet was divided.
The post quickly drew a mix of reactions, with some commenters praising the family’s sense of humor and others condemning the gesture.
A second person said: “In such poor taste to ruin a family photo this way,” while a third added: “Why? No class.”

However, there were some who found the entire thing quite funny.
A second added: “Sorry that all the people who clearly don’t joke with their families are flooding your comments. This is hilarious and if we did this it would be my mom’s favorite because she has a sense of humor.”
While a third person said: “As a mom who does this, this is hilarious. If my kids did this I would probably frame it.”
As long as the family found it funny and nobody got upset, that’s all that matters!
