It’s one of life’s greatest mysteries – what is waiting for us on the other side when we evidently die?
Well, according to numerous people, it ranges from a ‘cosmic orgasm’ to being in ‘heaven’, however, it has fundamentally changed people’s perspectives on their lives – with Jose Hernandez being one such person.
Hernandez described himself as a ‘true atheist’, as per MailOnline, and as an electrical engineer who would have to tend to roadside power lines, his job wasn’t without risk.
But it wasn’t the power lines that’d get him- it was a colleague.
On 6 January, 2000, he had been in a utility truck with his co-worker, who went on to lose control of the vehicle, telling Shaman Oaks on his YouTube channel: “When I had my experience I was a true Atheist. I am an engineer. I was up on a bucket truck running some electrical lines.
“We were running late. The guy that was with me, my partner, was more worried about electrocuting me up on top, so he was more worried looking up and he just kind of bumped into a tree.
“I hit the bucket and I broke all my ribs […] on my right side and I was sent to an emergency room.”
As medical personnel rushed around him to save his life, his mind started to wander towards God.
He said: “I started thinking about God,” adding that he began to tell him ‘if you get me through this event I will change’.
Hernandez continued: “That fear that I felt in that moment was incredibly competitive.
“And I started asking myself, ‘Well, what if God is real?’”
While he was being worked on by a doctor, the electrical engineer claimed his consciousness was then teleported through a dark portal that took him to a world with insane colour, where he was also reunited his late father.
During this time, he would be clinically dead, however, he eventually came back to life, just to fall back into unconsciousness for two minutes – all while watching everything unfold outside of his body.

He also saw a ‘shadow by the door’, leading Hernandez to accept that it was ‘okay to die’, and when the ‘shadow’ touched him, he claims he felt ‘this tremendous sense of relief, and relaxation, peace and love and calm’.
In a previous podcast with Next Soul in 2022, Hernandez said his religious beliefs were a result of ‘conflict’ between his parent’s beliefs, with his mother being Catholic, while his father was indigenous.
However, following his experience, this all changed.
He said: “Everything I believe was destroyed when I died. Everything I believed in science and all that. That wasn’t the answer.
“No. There was something more that was created.”

A man who suffered a near-death experience thinks he knows what’s on the other side.
Retired fire captain Bill Letson says he’s experienced the afterlife and claims it was ‘like a cosmic orgasm’.
Before he reached that conclusion, it all came about in 1964 when Bill became ill due to a flu epidemic in the city of Santa Barbara, California, where he was working.
The firefighter said he became very sick and was rushed to hospital to be put on IVs and 11 litres of fluids.
After Bill was prescribed with two more drugs, he went into intensive care and something bizarre happened.
“At some point during that night, I left my body and I found myself flying through this star-filled realm,” he said on the Shaman Oaks YouTube channel in 2023.
Bill recalled seeing ‘magnificent stars and orbs’ while in the ‘realm’ and that everyone around him was ‘so welcoming’.
“All I felt was everything a human ever wants to feel,” he continued.
“Just acceptance and love and joy and being held and all those things, all those negative things that we have about ourselves, they were gone.

“They were absolutely gone, things like anger and resentment or spite or jealousy.
“In my opinion, those emotions do not travel with us.”
The former forester described death as a ‘cosmic orgasm’ and that the ‘vibration’ is like nothing he’s ever felt.
“I was flying through this star-filled realm feeling absolutely ecstatic, like a cosmic orgasm,” Bill explained.
“And it wasn’t just an explosion, that was a full-time vibe, that is what we come from.
“We get glimpses of it here, when we score the winning touchdown or we get that job we wanted or get the girl you know and all these victories if you roll them all into one and times it by a million, that is your vibration.”
He continued: “I’m cruising along and it was a cosmic orgasm, just continuous and I felt like I’d been released from a hot dark closet and I was this huge expanded cloud, a huge expanded balloon, it seemed like I went out forever.”
When Bill reached the ‘afterlife’, he claims he was greeted by three hooded beings who were ‘giggling and bouncing around’.
“My throat just tightened and my chest expanded and I thought I was going to break down in uncontrollable crying from love,” he explained.
“There was so much love pouring from this being that it was overwhelming it was paralysing.
“Nobody was listening, they didn’t care it was obvious that I was brought in there for a quick show and tell and I wasn’t staying.
“It wasn’t the end of my life and I was the only one in the room that didn’t know that.”
Before his experience ended and he woke back up in hospital, Bill said one of the beings said to him: “You’ve got to back, you’ve got things to do and they’re important.”
