The pair were set to face off in a professional boxing bout under KSI’s Misfits umbrella in the new year in Manchester. However, the former Love Island star confirmed this morning (6 December) that this will no longer be going ahead.
Tension was already pretty fiery between the fighters after Tommy’s dad John Fury caused his usual chaos at the press conference recently before it broke out into a brawl.
The boxer has now called off the bout ‘for one simple reason’ as he says he’s ‘wasted weeks in training camp’ for it.

Tommy wrote on Instagram Stories: “I can’t believe l’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.
“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys.
Good news around the corner.”
Till had previously faced the star’s older brother Tyson in a bit of sparring – and said this is a reason as to why he would beat Fury.

He told Norske Bettingsider: “It’s on YouTube. You can see me and him sparring.
“We’re just having a little mess around, but I go for the takedown, and, you know, obviously just take him down easily. So if I can take Tyson down, I can definitely take little John down and Tommy, can’t I?”
He added: “Here’s the thing. I’m a realist. Nobody in that press conference was a threat to me – not John, not Tommy. Because if I want to turn, and I turn, and if someone punches me, I’ll kick them in the face. I will.
“I can get my leg up as quick as a jab. I’ll kick them in the face, take them down, and then they’re in a world of trouble.”
Following Fury’s announcement today, Till has now released a statement in response on X – and targeted Jake Paul for a fight instead.
The most hyped fight of the year ultimately ended in disappoint when a tired Tyson, 58, gassed out quicker than Netflix’s streaming connection.
Understandable, of course, for someone who is almost 60 and ‘almost died’ in June.

It was a boxing match without surprises as Paul comfortably beat Iron Mike on points during the streaming service’s first ever live broadcast at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday (15 November).
Post-match, the YouTuber took to his podcast BS w/ Jake Paul, to explain why he didn’t knock out the boxing legend, who struggled to throw many punches.
“After I’d seen him tired I didn’t want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience,” he said.
“But there was a point where my aggression and violence went away when I wasn’t getting hit. I love Mike.”

When asked if Tyson offered the most power he had ever felt in a fight, Paul suggested that the Love Island star was his ‘most powerful’ opponent.
Fury won by split decision when the pair fought in February 2023, making it the first loss of his career.
“I would say Tommy Fury because it’s the shot you don’t see,” he admitted.
“So, Tommy was a little tricky and, what I mean by that is, like if you see the punch coming, you could prepare for it.
“If you’re going into something and you can’t see it, and then all of a sudden you get hit, that’s when it hurts.
“So Tommy was more tricky with that but Mike’s punches, I could see coming.
“You don’t want to, so I was just moving, staying elusive and the only thing he was kind of landing was that hook.
“But I just kept my hand up on the telephone like Jasper reminded me.”
Paul also opened up about ‘everyone’s biggest critique’, which is that he needs to fight a ‘pro’ and ‘someone your own age’.
Taking that into consideration, the content creator said that Canelo Álvarez, one of the greatest boxers of all time, is who he wants to fight next.
He said that people will not be happy until he gets ‘f**king flatlined’ and ‘what better way to make that happen to go up against the biggest challenge in this sport’.
We’ve seen him headbutt a plastic screen separating him and KSI before Tommy stepped into the ring, throw water bottles and flip tables, publicly pull a mooney… and that’s just in the last few months.
Videos of a supposed ruckus between the two camps have gone viral online, which appears to show both sides shouting at each other before John goes head-to-head with one of Usyk’s companions.
There’s a clear divide in the crowd as one side is yelling ‘Fury’ and the other ‘Usyk’ at the top of their lungs, until tensions apparently spilled over.
John is alleged to have delivered one of his trademark headbutts to a member of Usyk’s entourage, Stanislav Stepchuk.

Reports claim that Tyson, who had been in a side room doing an interview, emerged to see his dad with a bloody forehead before asking: “What’s happened to your head, you silly c***?”
Security are said to have then intervened in the incident, which has sparked outrage ahead of the Gypsy King’s clash against Usyk – which was initially supposed to take place in February, before it was postponed.
According to the bloke who is claimed to have been headbutted, Stanislav, he was ‘simply supporting his team’ and claimed he was only chanting Usyk’s name.
He told Seconds Out: “I didn’t touch him. He went crazy… Yeah [I wanted to punch him], but because of the age difference it would not be very fair.
“He should not look for an actual fight because he could have a heart attack and finish in the ambulance.”

John has also since offered up his side of the story, claiming that Tyson’s opponents entourage were taunting him.
During an interview with Sky Sports – while still sporting a splodge of blood on his head – the patriarch of the Fury clan said: “Disrespecting my son, the best heavyweight to ever wear a pair of boxing gloves. Coming out with all that rubbish.
“You know he’s [Stanislav] in my face, trying to be clever. Coming into my space, ‘Usyk, Usyk!’
“Nobody’s bothering with them. I was only chanting my own son’s name! So they stepped closer and stepped closer. So at the end of the day, I’m a warrior, that’s what we do.”
John took the opportunity to remind boxing fans that settling an issue with fisticuffs is in his blood, as he routinely boasts that he comes from a long line of bare-knuckle fighters, while also having 13 professional fights to his name himself.
He continued: “We’re fighting people. You come in the space, you’ve got to get what’s coming.
“We’ve done everything we can, Tyson’s in fine fettle. You’re probably going to see on Saturday night the best Tyson ever. But this is what he comes off, we’re fighting people.
“That there, is a regular occurrence, seven nights a week for me that. We’re not interested.
“So the last thing they’re going to do, is get one over on me or my family. it will not happen. You be disrespectful – we don’t talk, we don’t scream,” he said, before smacking his hands together.
“Who cares? Not me,” John added, before he began chanting his surname on repeat.
Luckily for those who are fans of seeing the Fury family draw blood, you can catch Tyson taking on Uysk at the Kingdom Arena on Saturday at 11pm UK time, while the weigh-in is on Friday at 7pm.
The pair were set to step in the ring against one another on 17 February in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
However, earlier today (2 February), Fury is reported as having sustained an injury which needed ‘urgent medical attention’.
It revealed that Fury had sustained ‘a freak cut during a sparring session in Riyadh’.
“The cut, which opened above Fury’s right eye, required urgent medical attention and significant stitching, and will obviously require a period of recovery, scuppering any possibility of the fight with Usyk taking place on 17 February in Saudi Arabia,” the statement explains.
A spokesperson added: “Whilst this is still breaking news it is clearly a massive disappointment, after the work that has been done by so many people to finally deliver this historic event to the world.”
The spokesperson notes the team will have ‘a better idea of the period of recovery needed’ once doctors have accessed the damage to Fury’s eye.
“Once known we will work diligently with all the stake-holders and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reschedule this fight as soon as possible and will of course keep everyone updated with developments.”
Fury has also spoken out about the turn of events, voicing that he is ‘absolutely devastated’ the fight is being postponed after he prepared for it for ‘so long’ and was in ‘such superb condition’.
He resolves: “I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed.
“I can only apologise to everyone affected including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, and fans as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
And boxing fans are flooding to social media to weigh in on the announcement.
One X user said: “Knew this fight would never happen.”
“Gutted, half expected it coming but that’s some gash, gonna take a while for that to heal,” another added.
A third wrote: “The fight was never on, let’s all be honest.”
And a fourth commented: “Get well soon champ.”
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s battle for the heavyweight world title last night was one for the ages, and fans had been gearing up to see the pair fight it out for months.
But when Usyk became the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era due to a split decision, it was all love between the duo.
With scores of 115-112, 113-114, and 114-113, it was a close call in the ring.

It was one of the finest heavyweight fights and sporting spectacles of the 21st century, with fans experiencing it all, with the scales being tipped numerous times and Fury coming back from the brink of defeat to fight to the end.
The result takes the Ukrainian’s boxing record to 22-0-0 with 14 wins by KO, following up on a win against Derek Chisora, back-to back wins against Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois in consecutive bouts.
However, there was one thing that was promised after the winner was announced, which shows exactly how humble and honourable the two men are.
Before Usyk was crowned the victor, Fury pulled him in for a bear hug and kissed him on the head.
Then, just moments after the winner was announced, he told his opponent: “Good work Oleksandr. You’re a strong man and a very good boxer. Very good, my brother. In Christ.”

Usyk replied with how long he’d been preparing for this moment: “Listen, I started preparing for you when you were boxing in 2008, European champion.”
To which Fury said: “Thank you my brother, you’re a very good boxer. I love it, I love it, good moves.”
That’s when the Gypsy King made a promise like no other to the new undisputed heavyweight champion.
He said: “I’d like to come to Ukraine with my family and have a holiday with your family and you can come to my house and have a holiday with me.”
Usyk quickly agreed and replied: “No problem, my friend.”
But it might not be over!
Prince Turki went on to talk about the possibility of more fights in Saudi Arabia and Fury quickly agreed.
