Matilda seems like one of those movies everyone watched as a kid, but it released all the way back in 1996 making the film nearly three decades old.
All the kids from the movie have since grown up and gone on to do other things, but that doesn’t mean they can’t revisit the classic film from time to time.
At a cast reunion in 2021, the stars of Matilda came together and proved they still had that old magic as they recreated one of the iconic scenes from the movie, namely the one where Bruce Bogtrotter (Jimmy Karz) is punished for stealing a slice of chocolate cake.
In the film, Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris) decides to force Bruce to eat a ginormous cake in front of the entire school, but he manages to outdo her punishment by successfully scoffing the lot.
Robbed of her original punishment, she then smashes the dish over his head.
In a recreation of the scene all those years later, Ferris and Karz did the scene again, but thankfully the cake was far smaller this time.
Acting out the scene, the pair were clearly having a fine time revisiting the moment, only for Karz to get pranked as they suddenly brought out a giant cake like the one in the movie.

Danny DeVito even made a cameo in the scene as he joined in with the shouts for Karz to ‘eat it’, though when you’re Danny DeVito, this is the sort of thing you can do.
It doesn’t hurt that he was the director of Matilda, so if he wants to tell Bruce Bogtrotter to eat the cake then he gets to.
Of course, now that Karz is all grown up he looks pretty much unrecognisable from his younger self, which tends to happen thanks to the aging process.
As for his acting career, Karz would go on to appear in The Wedding Singer and ER, but ended up retiring from acting to pursue an altogether different career.
He decided to study to become a doctor, and back in 2015, he explained how gardening got him interested in medicine.
He said: “Through gardening, I learned a little bit about biology and chemistry, enough to realise I wanted to delve more into science. I went back to school to study biochemistry, which led me to medicine.
“I liked osteopathic medicine’s focus on helping the whole patient, and I was interested in learning manual techniques to help patients.”
It’s a better job than filming the cake eating scene from Matilda, as DeVito had said that it took about two weeks to film and poor Karz had to spit out the cake between takes while not wiping his mouth.

A new Harry Potter ‘trailer’ for 2024 not only shows the boy wizard all grown up, but also features Dumbledore.
Sure, it might sound too good to be true, but Potterheads are pretty excited about it.
While it’s currently only available on stage and on the bookshelves, this teaser for a ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ film offers a ‘sneak peek’ into what could happen next in the Wizarding World.
Ok, some things are too good to be true, like this incredible Home Alone 3 trailer, and this Cursed Child teaser is sadly the same, as it’s created by AI.
But now Harry Potter fans want it to actually be made because it looks so good.
During the trailer, we see a spooky looking Hogwarts while (presumably) Harry’s little lad asks: “Dad, what if I have got into Slytherin?”
And then, despite the character dying in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore appears.
“Memory is everything,” he says, “without it we are blind.”
An all grown-up (and rather haggard-looking to be honest), Daniel Radcliffe is also shown before a female voice says: “Awful things happen to wizards who meddle with time, Harry.”
Spooky.
Despite the play running in London for a while now, there hasn’t been a confirmed film release for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Back in 2022, Radcliffe said to The New York Times that another Harry Potter is ‘not something [he is] really interested in doing right now’. Although he did include: “Never say never.”
The play published in 2016 is set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and follows the son of Harry, Albus Severus Potter.
Rowling’s referred to it as ‘the eighth Harry Potter story’.
While it doesn’t look like we’ll get this as film any time soon, Warner Bros. is working on a TV series reboot of the franchise. So, that’s something for fans to look forward to, I guess.
For now, we’ll just have to live vicariously through the likes of these fake AI trailers as viewers say this is the best one they’ve ‘ever’ seen.
Plenty say they’ve ‘love for a new Harry Potter movie to come out’ and one puts: “I always wanted to see the characters as adults’.
Another writes: “That’s cool I really do hope they actually come out with a new movie like this in the movie franchise.”
