The British journalist and broadcaster was a host on the morning show from 2015-2021, before a dramatic storm off the set marked the end of his tenure on the ITV programme.
Prior to his appearance this morning (3 March), the 59-year-old took to social media to announce his return.
On Sunday night, he wrote: “It’s been nearly 4yrs (1,453 days to be precise!) since I departed @GMB rather hastily… but tomorrow morning, for the first time, I’m going back,” adding that he’d be on with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.

Shortly after starting their segment at 8.15am, Morgan interrupted Reid and exclaimed: “Hold on, are we just going to ignore the fact that I haven’t been here in 1,453 days?”
To which Reid replied saying that they ‘weren’t going to ignore that’, but Morgan seemed to revert to type, making everyone feel a bit uneasy with his comments.
Never too shy to say what’s on his mind, he asked Reid: “Do I not even get a hug?”
Moving closer to Reid while repeatedly saying ‘come on’, the female GMB presenter clearly looked uncomfortable as Morgan got closer with his outstretched arms.
She was having none of it, reluctantly putting her arms out and looking to give in, but Morgan stopped short and let out an awkward chuckle.
