While many people may not be a fan of reality TV, one moment has captured the attention of millions on social media this week.

It can be summed up in three words: Montoya, Por Favor!

The phrase is from a clip from Spanish reality TV series La Isla de las Tentaciones, based on the American series Temptation Island.

As you can imagine, it’s a dramatic watch and while the US version ended in 2003, the Spanish show is in its eight season.

There has been a lot of criticism over the years about its premise, but isn’t that just reality TV in general?

It’s all about the contestants, and this moment is about one José Carlos Montoya, whose viral reaction has garnered over 106 million views on X on the account that originally posted the video, in just three days.

Part of the show is making contestants watch their significant others get tempted, or worse, be unfaithful, live from the other villa, making it that much more entertaining for viewers.

So when Montoya is taken away from the resort by host Sandra Barneda, he knows it’s not good news.

For context – earlier in the series, his girlfriend, Anita Williams, is made to watch him participate in a challenge where he receives a lap dance and a strip tease.

Understandably, she’s annoyed, so she starts to flirt and spend time with a guy in the villa, named Manuel, for revenge.

Montoya has already seen Anita and Manuel make out in the pool and get handsy, to which he reacted by kicking over the iPad they were watching on, and sinking to his knees by the beach. As you do.

But this time, it’s far more serious.

He’s taken to watch Anita in a room with Manuel, as their seen sweet talking each other and kissing before the lights go out, and they’re clearly about to do the deed.

Montoya starts to shout in pain, and it’s one of those moments where you don’t need to speak Spanish to understand what’s going on, as he falls to his knees and starts crying.

As he knows he’s about to get cheated on, he makes a run for it, legging it across the beach to the other villa while repeatedly shouting, as the host tried her best in keeping Montoya calm, running after him shouting: “Montoya, Por Favor!”

Which translates to Montoya, please (come back).

But the viewers were given cut backs to the bedroom with Anita, and we can hear and see things getting frisky as they’re under the sheets while the camera crew struggles to keep up with Montoya.

We can then see Anita in Manuel having sex as Montoya reaches the house, scaring other contestants as he screams at Anita from outside, stopping the deed.

As she comes down, Anita starts shouting at him, even calling him a ‘scoundrel’ in Spanish, as Montoya drops to his knees in pain, howling at the sky as host Sandra finally catches up to comfort him.

Quickly though, Anita realises what she has done and breaks down crying, leaving the villa and going to her boyfriend on the beach, asking to leave the show and go home.

Sandra is not happy, pushing her off and telling her to go back to the villa, rounding off one of the most dramatic moments in reality TV history.

People took to social media to share what they thought, with one user saying: “It’s so naughty how they kept cutting to that babe cheating while Montoya was running”

Another wrote: “Streets trying to say Montoya cheated first but it was just a small lap dance and kiss. Not saying cheating is ok but that woman wanted Montoya dead, riding like she was trying to cross the seven seas in one evening.”

A third joked: “I think if Montoya hadn’t started running and waited a little longer resulting in him seeing her on top… he would have entered the ocean never to return.”

Montoya previously said that Anita was his first love, to rub salt into the wounds.
