1994 was the year of Chuck Russell’s The Mask, which follows timid bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey) who unearths a magical mask – unleashing his wild alter ego (with superpowers).
Stanley then comes up against crime boss Dorian Tyrell (Peter Greene), while Cameron Diaz makes her start in Hollywood as lounge singer Tina Carlyle, The Mask’s eventual love interest.
“If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one,” she admitted.
This comes after Comicbook.com asked the Dumb and Dumber actor about the possibility of a sequel, to which he replied: “Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea.
“If somebody had the right idea, I guess… It’s not really about the money. I joke about the money… But I never know.
It was Diaz’s film debut (New Line Cinema)
“You can’t be definite about these things. I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting.
“Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just – things tend to change.”
Meanwhile, Diaz’s new comedy flick – Back In Action – marked her return to acting following a 10-year retirement, alongside Jamie Foxx.
Her last on-screen role was a decade ago in the 2014 Annie.
Previously speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Diaz said: “I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process, I kind of just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different.
Carey starred as The Mask (New Line Cinema)
“The last movie I made was Annie with Jamie, and so the first movie back is this film with Jamie.
“He’s so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented, and just being able to work with him.”
Foxx previously told Entertainment Tonight that he persuaded Diaz to come out of retirement.
“Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business,” he said.
“We love her. So it was literally, ‘Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!’ And I think that’s what brought her to it.
“So we’re so happy that it’s happening and looking forward to it.”
