He wants a ‘better fight’

Tommy Fury just announced he has pulled out of his fight with Darren Till in an explosive statement.

The pair were set to face off in a professional boxing bout under KSI‘s Misfits umbrella in the new year in Manchester. However, the former Love Island star confirmed this morning (6 December) that this will no longer be going ahead.

Tension was already pretty fiery between the fighters after Tommy’s dad John Fury caused his usual chaos at the press conference recently before it broke out into a brawl.

The boxer has now called off the bout ‘for one simple reason’ as he says he’s ‘wasted weeks in training camp’ for it.

Tommy wrote on Instagram Stories: “I can’t believe l’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.

“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys.

Good news around the corner.”

Till had previously faced the star’s older brother Tyson in a bit of sparring – and said this is a reason as to why he would beat Fury.

He told Norske Bettingsider: “It’s on YouTube. You can see me and him sparring.

“We’re just having a little mess around, but I go for the takedown, and, you know, obviously just take him down easily. So if I can take Tyson down, I can definitely take little John down and Tommy, can’t I?”

He added: “Here’s the thing. I’m a realist. Nobody in that press conference was a threat to me – not John, not Tommy. Because if I want to turn, and I turn, and if someone punches me, I’ll kick them in the face. I will.

“I can get my leg up as quick as a jab. I’ll kick them in the face, take them down, and then they’re in a world of trouble.”

Following Fury’s announcement today, Till has now released a statement in response on X – and targeted Jake Paul for a fight instead.

Jake Paul has revealed why he thinks Tommy Fury was a lot ‘trickier’ to fight than Mike Tyson.

The most hyped fight of the year ultimately ended in disappoint when a tired Tyson, 58, gassed out quicker than Netflix’s streaming connection.

Understandable, of course, for someone who is almost 60 and ‘almost died’ in June.

It was a boxing match without surprises as Paul comfortably beat Iron Mike on points during the streaming service’s first ever live broadcast at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday (15 November).

Post-match, the YouTuber took to his podcast BS w/ Jake Paul, to explain why he didn’t knock out the boxing legend, who struggled to throw many punches.

“After I’d seen him tired I didn’t want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience,” he said.

“But there was a point where my aggression and violence went away when I wasn’t getting hit. I love Mike.”

When asked if Tyson offered the most power he had ever felt in a fight, Paul suggested that the Love Island star was his ‘most powerful’ opponent.

Fury won by split decision when the pair fought in February 2023, making it the first loss of his career.

“I would say Tommy Fury because it’s the shot you don’t see,” he admitted.

“So, Tommy was a little tricky and, what I mean by that is, like if you see the punch coming, you could prepare for it.

“If you’re going into something and you can’t see it, and then all of a sudden you get hit, that’s when it hurts.

“So Tommy was more tricky with that but Mike’s punches, I could see coming.

“He was strong but he didn’t land anything clean so, I honestly didn’t feel Mike Tyson’s full power but that’s good.

“You don’t want to, so I was just moving, staying elusive and the only thing he was kind of landing was that hook.

“But I just kept my hand up on the telephone like Jasper reminded me.”

Paul also opened up about ‘everyone’s biggest critique’, which is that he needs to fight a ‘pro’ and ‘someone your own age’.

Taking that into consideration, the content creator said that Canelo Álvarez, one of the greatest boxers of all time, is who he wants to fight next.

He said that people will not be happy until he gets ‘f**king flatlined’ and ‘what better way to make that happen to go up against the biggest challenge in this sport’.
